SMD 25th Anniversary 2012

SMD we have listened to you speak and we are putting your suggestions into action.  We have discussed your thoughts and realize it is time to move forward with a different mindset.  We decided that our 25th Anniversary will be the beginning of a new era.  The planning committee and the Board of Directors are working hard to make the upcoming reunion a joyous occasion and we welcome your input.  However, before we start on our venture we want to thank those who have worked hard over the past 25 years planning and keeping the SMD reunion going.  Thanks to all of you for a job well done.

This reunion will reflect 25 years to include a Thursday registration and activities, Friday meet and greet and board meeting, tour of ISR as it is today, possible tour of the city and surrounding cities, a memory book, 25th Silver Reunion t-shirts, 25th Silver Reunion coin, great fun and games in the hospitality room, a plated dinner, entertainment, prizes, speakers, photo’s and many other events.

The President is working very hard to make this reunion be reflective of thing to come in the future.  You will be receiving your registration early which will allow you time to make reservations, and prepare for the trip.  Our 25th Silver Anniversary colors are Blue and Silver and our theme is “Where do we go from here”. We thought this theme was appropriate because this reunion marks a significant juncture in our organization and we are looking for the current Security Service members to embrace the methodology of this committee and take an active part.  We will reach out to those SMD members in the city and extend an invitation for them to come back and be a part of this great organization.  We challenge each member to reach out to at least five other members sharing the dream and hope for the future of SMD.

I truly believe without a vision there is no future and we need to start recruiting new active duty members so the future of SMD will continue.  We need to be willing to let go and allow the new members to come in and take an active part in planning and work together like we did over the past 25 years. Let’s embrace them and let them know that we value their ideas and opinions.

Where do we go from here is a powerful thought and we all need to look around to see what we need to do to continue to move forward?  I know those warriors who have gone to their reward would not want this organization to fail and it is up to each of us to carry on their dreams and pass the torch to the next generation to press toward the next 25 years.  We can do it if we join in forces to make it happen.  Remember there is strength in unity and no one person can carry the entire load.  Let’s reach out and take part in planning, reaching out to others and make this the reunion I know and you know it can be.
