SMD BOARD MEETING OCTOBER 5TH, 2011
The meeting was called to order by the President at 7:15 P M at the Lackland Enlisted Club.
The minutes from our meeting held August 24th, 2011 were read and approved with corrections regarding Memorial Services.
The president welcomed the new board members.
Treasurer, Raymond Tate, shared a detailed report on income, expenditures, and a listing of monies paid by attendees. Total income from all sources was $9015.51 and total expenses were $7615.90, leaving a balance of $1399.61. Copies of this report were given to all members in attendance. This report will accompany our next newsletter. Catfish submitted receipts for expenses for the Hospitality room in the amount of $255. A check was issued for this amount. Ms. Dennie moved that the treasurer’s report be accepted and it was approved.
We paid $202.54 for the president’s room. Door prizes were provided by Ms. Dennie (4) and Patricia Edwards (4).
Raymond Tate announced that our Website will be regenerated using a different Host, “Go Daddy” will be the name of the Domain. It will cost $60.21 and a hosting fee of $107.64 for a total of $248.20.
We discussed possible reasons for our low attendance-late notices, late newsletter, and lack of activities. Some board members stated that some attendees felt they were paying too much for the dinner/dance and we did not have enough activities. Some complained about the size of the Hospitality room and the fact that liquor was hidden under the tables. The cost of the Hotel rooms was another issue. Shirley Jones asked the president if he would approve her contacting the hotel management to discuss charges. The president did not approve her request because the hotel only wanted to deal with one person, our current contact, Barbara Wright. It was suggested that we find another hotel and we were reminded that we had committed to having the 2012 activities at the Airport Hilton.
It was suggested that we have a Golf Tournament; a bus trip, Briefing from the Command, and recognize our deceased members.
The following members volunteered to serve on the 25th Anniversary SMD Legacy Committee: Don Newburn, Hank Small, Patricia O’Neal, Patricia Edwards, and Shirley Jones, designated as the chair person by the president.
The SMD board will meet the second (2nd) Monday of each month beginning November 14th, 2011 and the Legacy group will meet the
week before the board meeting. The secretary was requested to e-mail all meeting notes to members.
